Marina has extensive knowledge in analyzing and writing about literature, having completed her dissertation research on the contemporary literature, culture and politics of Russia, Middle East, and The Balkans. Marina has taught American, British, and World literature at several universities in addition to teaching at a middle school for gifted children. Marina leads Literacy Block, helps our eighth graders with the high school placement process, and runs our History Club.

Kelly leads Science Block and supports our young scientists through the science fair. Impressively, five Long-View learners have made it to the nationals under Kelly’s mentorship. Kelly's previous experience includes teaching chemistry, environmental science, and forensics at the high school level for an IB school while serving as science department chair for grades 6-12. She has National Board Certification in Chemistry and loves mathematics, having minored in it as an undergraduate.

Anna leads Literacy Block and has extensive experience guiding students in both reading and writing, having taught creative and critical writing—as well as literature courses—to college students at UT, playwriting to 7th/8th graders at an independent school, creative writing to high schoolers at a magnet school, and reading to elementary and middle schoolers in a variety of after-school and summer programs. During her time at UT’s Michener Center for Writers she served as the Editor in Chief of the Bat City Review.

Eric has experience as a computer engineer at National Instruments, teaching experience at the middle school and high school levels, and curriculum writing experience at three publishing companies. He has also served in various school leadership roles, including principal of a local high school. Eric leads Math Block, helps our eighth graders with the high school placement process, and is part of The Number Lab team. Within that team, he works closely with Partner Schools, doing on-site demonstrations and coaching.

Natalie started her career working in finance and at a VC-backed startup managing client relationships. After attending graduate school and earning both a Master’s of Education and an MBA, she spent 4 years building the K-8 program at a local private school and serving as a school administrator. She also worked at the Texas Education Agency, helping districts implement innovative academic programs and increasing options for families before serving as a private educational consultant for families seeking the right school fit within Austin's education landscape. At Long-View, Natalie leads efforts related to admissions and strategic growth, and runs our Social Studies Club.

Kaylie leads Math Block and has extensive experience supporting young mathematicians to view math as a reasoning-based discipline. Kaylie is especially adept at helping children fall in love with math and lean into the challenge of our curriculum that focuses on conceptual continuities. Before joining Long-View, Kaylie taught in self-contained classrooms in a large public district where she won two teaching awards. At Long-View, Kaylie runs Big + Little Math, lends her expertise in tools/construction to Build Week challenges, and is part of The Number Lab team. Within that team, she works closely with Partner Schools, doing on-site demonstrations and coaching.

Eryn has taught children in third through sixth grades, been a Gifted Specialist, served as a mentor for novice teachers, and presented at state-wide conferences. She has experience evaluating curriculum and training teachers, with a focus on deeper learning models that promote student-centered learning. Eryn has been deeply involved in The Reading & Writing Project at Mossflower and contributed to the publication of Units of Study: Deep Reading of Biographies, Unit 4 (the work of many Long-View students is featured prominently!). At Long-View, Eryn leads Literacy Block, oversees our Library Guild, and helps plan parent events.

After working with children of diverse learning needs and socioeconomic backgrounds in Delaware, Claire taught middle school mathematics at a local private school, where she planned and implemented curriculum for every grade level and reviewed and selected new math curriculum for grades K-8.  Claire has also served as a research assistant conducting research on how children think, learn, and solve problems in mathematics. Claire leads Math Block, supports AfterMath, runs our enrollment process each year, and oversees learners working on high school math credits. Claire is also a part of The Number Lab team.

Jaclyn has extensive training in reading/writing through the invitational institute, The Heart of Texas Writing Project, which is UT’s affiliate of the National Writing Project. Prior to joining our team, she taught in large districts in Texas, where she was nominated for and received multiple teaching awards. Jaclyn also taught at a school in Bucaramanga, Colombia, where 100% of her students were English language learners. Jaclyn leads Literacy Block, coordinates our reading assessment program, ensures are youngest learners have a strong phonics foundation, and runs our after school program (chess, pottery, Spanish, and more!).

Aiden teaches Computer Science to all four Long-View bands. Prior to coming to Long-View, Aiden was a software engineer working on backend solutions using Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL and crafting front-end interfaces using HTML and JavaScript at a financial tech startup. Aiden is deeply interested in machine learning and natural language processing. He regularly lends his tech and data management skills to our team to keep things running smoothly. Aiden’s Campfires are legendary and range from discussions on current events or legal cases, to introductions to musical instruments and song-writing.

Kevin has 30+ years of experience teaching math in middle and elementary at both public and private schools and has provided coaching on effective instructional practices for the teaching of mathematics to hundreds of teachers. Kevin is one of the founders of both Long-View and The Number Lab. After a decade of dedication to both organizations, he moved to New Mexico to pursue his passions for supporting rural math teachers through a series of new projects. Kevin’s fingerprints are all over Long-View—the culture, the pedagogy, and the way we work to deeply understand each child’s growth would not be the same without his profound influence.
